La Teyssière lies at the very point where the Petit Luberon mountain range meets its neighbour, the Grand Luberon. It rests in a saucer-like plateau in the shadow of the beautifully majestic Mourre Negre, one of the Grand Luberon's peaks. Below lies the Gorge de Lourmarin, gateway to the Durance Valley and the Cote d'Azur. Above stands the renowned Foret de Cedres, one of only five cedar forests in the world, atop the peaks of the Petit Luberon range.
All around are the wonderful hill villages of the Luberon valley; Bonnieux, Lacoste, Menerbes, Gordes, Oppìde-le-Vieux, Goult, Ansouis and Roussillon. To the north, within an hour's drive lie Avignon, Isle-sur-le Sorgue, Fontaine-les-Pernes and Carpentras.
To the west is the market town, Cavaillon. Beyond lies the Carmague, Arles, St Remy and Les Alpilles de Provence along with all its gastronomic wonders.
To the east are the towns of Apt, Manosque, Forqualquier; further still, the foothills of the Alps. Forty five minutes to the south is the great city of Aix-en-Provence. A little further is the Cezanne renowned Mont St. Victoire, portal to Marseilles and the Mediterranean seaside towns of Cassis and Bandol beyond.
Forty miles to the north stands Mont Ventoux. Made famous as the most cruel of the Tour de France climbs; a drive to the top of its 6,000 feet high limestone capped mountain produces one of the most breathtaking views in France.

Our nearest town, three kilometres away to the north, is BONNIEUX, the biggest and one of the loveliest of the villages of the Petit Luberon, with spectacular views over the Luberon Valley. It is the home of Monsieur Tomas' marvellous patisserie, Monsieur et Madame Isnard's brilliant boucherie and a melange of other shops and restaurants. You really have no need to visit supermarkets for your needs.

Five miles to the south of La Teyssire, through the Gorge de Lourmarin, lies the gastronomic village of LOURMARIN, one time home and now burial place of Henri Bosco & Albert Camus. It is the starting point to the Route des Chateaux du Luberon and is host to numerous bars and restaurants. Originally settled by Benedictine monks in the 12th Century, Lourmarin became a Protestant stronghold during the Religious wars and, in 1545, the inhabitants were massacred on the orders of Francois I. Throughout the summer its chateau is used as a venue for musical and theatrical events.

LACOSTE
Lacoste, just a few miles away to the west, is a smart "village perchè" with an American art school run by the Cleveland Institute of Art. The chateau which overlooks the village was the home of the Marquis de Sade.
It has been bought by fashion designer Pierre Cardin, and musical and theatrical works form the basis of Cardin's annual festival with opera, theatre, and music set in the quarried stage and coinciding with the nearby Festival d'Avignon.
Market: Tuesday mornings.
