Travel in Europe
There are many ways to travel to La Teyssière depending, of course,
where you're coming from.
By Air
The nearest airport to the house, at a little more than an hour's
drive, is Marseilles Marignane or Aeroport de Provence, as it is known
locally. It is served by direct flights from London, Amsterdam, Cologne,
Frankfurt, Munich and Paris. Alternative airports are Lyons, two and
a half hours drive, Montpelier and Nimes, each two hours away or Nice,
some three hours drive.

By Train
La Teyssière is equidistant from both the Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence
TGV stations each about fifty minutes by car. Trains from London, Brussels
and Paris enjoy a daily service. Travelling from London or Brussels
means a change at Lille or Paris. You are strongly advised to change
at Lille because normally it means a change of platform only. Changing
at Paris involves a cross-town chase by taxi or Underground Railway
and is to be discouraged. If you travel on Saturday, there is a direct
high speed service from Waterloo to Avignon and Aix-en Provence with
a journey time of less than six and a half hours. Rental Cars are available
at both TGV stations.

By Car
From the UK, it is a matter of getting by car to the Eurotunnel and
taking the train or to a Cross Channel Port and taking Ferry or Seacat.
The fastest route to the south from Calais or Boulogne is to take the
Peage south via Rheims, Dijon and Lyons. The drive from the French Coast
is a little over six hundred miles and can be managed comfortably in
a day.

It might be that you want to travel through France at a leisurely pace
and not try to rush your journey in one day.Essentially, French hotels
can be divided into two principal categories; modern/efficient or traditional/characterful.

Also, in mid-summer, traveling on Saturdays on French Motorways can
be a crowded and hair-raising experience. You can check the traffic

Travel from the U.S.A./Southern Hemisphere
A flight to Paris from mainland U.S.A. and then the TGV to Avignon or
Aix-en-Provence is probably the easiest and most straightforward route.
TGV train time from Paris is approximately three hours. The simplest
way is to fly direct to Charles Degaulle Airport and transfer to the
Charles Degaulle TGV station at the airport to journey south.
Alternatively, and arguably slightly quicker (though not by much) you
can fly to Paris and take a connecting flight to Marseillles Marignane.
